Meet Chew Bear!

Chew Bear. That is the name of Stikii’s fabulous mascot and long-time friend.  For months the Stikii team was anxiously anticipating Chew Bear’s grand debut into the lives of our fans. Chew Bear is very sneaky and sly, he would not let the team in on his idea until the last minute when he decided that he would jump out of an airplane thousands of feet into the air and land right amidst our 4^th of July Red, White and Shoe Drive celebration. Talk about making an entrance!

Now that Chew Bear has entered the lives of our friend, fans and tiny customers, it is about time that we introduce him to the public on a more personal level. This blog is dedicated to every, and all, things Chew Bear. Get ready to learn about the endearing animal beneath those floppy ears and loving eyes. Chew Bear is truly one of a kind, just you wait and see!

Chew Bear was born in a Chew tree in Chaledo, a magical city on Stikii Island in Lake Erie, on October 28 (the very same day as Stikii creator, Joe Chew!). A Chew tree is similar to a Rubber tree, and is used especially for making chewing gum (this may be why Chew Bear loves bubble gum!). He was adopted by two afro-bearing parents who went by the names of Chacha (Chew Bears mother who had a love for dancing) and Chaka (his father whose love for rap music was known across the land). He loves them very much and sees them often, but they do not look like him. They often write letters to one another and FaceTime on the iPhone when they can get a strong connection.

Chew Bear got his name from the tree he was born in. The tree is one of his favorite places to visit when he returns to Chaledo. One visit to that tree and all of his problems seem to go away. It is a very thereputic tree. Another wonderful thing about this tree is how very tall it is. Chew Bear has spent many days perched in the highest branches making friends with the birds and gawking at airplanes. It is from the very tip-top branch that Chew Bear discovered his love of heights wished some day to fly. One of his life-long dreams was to fly over the city of Toledo, which he was able to achieve when he sky-dived into our Red, White and Shoe event this past July!

Another interesting story about Chew Bear is that of his great “Search” a few years back. When Chew Bear reached a certain age, he was required to go on a journey called a Search. The Search was meant to teach him about his heritage and family history – to educate him about what he is and what he is meant to become. Chew Bear’s Search lead him to discover that he is actually the last if the ancient civilization lost in time known as the Dog Bears (half dog, half bear, fully intelegent and fascinating). The Dog Bears were a settlement of naturally kind and peaceful creatures whose love for music and footwear was immeasurable.

Throughout his Search, Chew Bear encountered various obstacles and past relatives that taught him lessons of his past and put him in touch with his many strengths and talents. At some point, it was revealed to Chew Bear what it was that he was “Searching” for – a pair of shoes with magical qualities, called Stikii Shoes, that were designed eons ago by the very first of the Dog Bears. Eventually, Chew bear uncovers the Dog Bear Shoes of Ancient Stikii. Ancient Stikii (Stikii Island) was a small island populated with many of the oldest and wisest Dog Bears ever to walk the earth. Stikii Island cannot be found on any map, and only Dog Bears are able to visit it. Finding these shoes allows Chew Bear to continue what his ancestors set out to do. It is his destiny to make children very happy and to allow them to express their creativity and free spirits. Chew Bear was eager to accept his calling, thus helping to design and share Stikii shoes and Stik-em accessories with children everywhere.  However, Chew Bear’s Search is not yet complete, he must continue to look for Stik-ems across the world because each indivual Stik-em has their own ability to help people. With each new Stik-em found, Chew Bear is given a new ability!

Chew Bear is such a wonderful character, with a stand-out personality that can’t be beat. Chew Bear is kind-hearted, sweet, nurturing, smart, supportive, fun, mischievous, loving and adventurous. He puts others before himself, enjoys giving back to the community and believes in the importance of friendship and family.

Chew Bear has developed quite a few hobbies over the year. His main interests seem to be musical. Chew Bear aspires to someday become a professional rapper and dancer. He has wonderful rhythm and can freestyle with the best of them! His other interests include airplanes, sky-diving, practical jokes, art, sports and more. Chew Bear is very active and believes that a healthy and creative lifestyle is the only choice.

Chew Bear’s favorite subject in school has always been art class, which may be why he is so keen on accessorizing and personalizing his Stikiis. He thinks he could eat pepperoni pizza and hot dogs every day followed by ice cream for dessert (with extra sprinkles).  His favorite color is Stikii Green and his favorite song is the Stikii Rap. He loves spending time with his friends and kids, as well as reading books and watching movies. He truly is a kid at heart!

Chew Bear’s mission in life is to show the world what Stikii can do one rap, one shoe and one hug at a time!
