Stikii Does Flips for Sunrise Gymnastics Academy

On Sunday, March 18, Stikii visited local gymnastics club Sunrise Gymnastics Academy (SGA) located near the intersection of Sylvania and Holland-Sylvania roads in Toledo, Ohio. This sort of event was very new to Stikii – we had not previously been represented at a sporting event and it was extremely exciting for us to be navigating through new territory! SGA was holding a gymnastics meet at its facility that afternoon and we were so glad to be a part of.

For those of you unfamiliar with the sport of gymnastics, our Stikii team member Morgan Bowman knows first-hand what it is like to compete – she is actually a Sunrise alum herself! Gymnastics can be considered both an individual and team sport, and is highly competitive. Each child competes on various apparatuses to earn an individual score based on their routine and its elements. The individual scores are combined with the other gymnast’s on the time to compile the team score. Often, individual awards and team awards are given to those with the highest scores. Gymnasts practice hard, and often, to perfect their routines in preparation for various meets throughout the season.

However, this past Sunday Stikii helped to shake things up. The children woke up early, as usual, mentally prepared for the event going over and over their routines in their heads as they followed a caravan of team spirit to the meet location. It probably seemed like a pretty normal trip for both the parents and the athletes – nerves beginning to take over as they pulled into the SGA parking lot.

Just imagine the surprised look on the faces of the hundreds of children and adults in attendance as they got their first ever glimpse of the Stikii Mobile, waiting for them as they arrived at their destination. As the gymnasts and their supporters entered the gym, they were greeted by our giant inflatable Stikii shoes that measures of 6 feet in length! After checking out the larger-than-life Stikii, the athletes resumed their normal routine and participated in stretching and warm-outs to prepare their bodies for the days meet. After the National Anthem was played and the teams introduced, Stikii was honored to be recognized as the corporate sponsor for the meet.

The Stikii team watched the gymnasts compete on events like the uneven bars, floor, vault and more. It was amazing to see how talented these kids were and how seriously they took their sport! Stikii was a breath of fresh air that helped to calm nerves and excite the crowd. We would just like to say how very proud and impressed we were by the talent involved in the meet that day. The kids were awesome, inquisitive and inspired us to continue on our path to make shoes fun.

We sure did enjoy watching the faces light up as the children experienced something new they had never before seen. The event was a unique experience for Stikii team members Hal Yaffe and Steve Reamey. It was actually the first time our brand had been exposed to new faces from outside the Toledo area. The teams came from Cleveland, Columbus and even Swanton – talk about extending our reach! No matter where they came from one thing was for sure, they were all drawn to the display and immediately took to playing and applying the Stik-ems.

We were able to get the audience members with cell phones to text 744 to 383838 and vote live for Stikii on the spot (which you should do right now!). The kids even spelled GO SUNRISE with our new Alphabet Stik-ems which were also being displayed for the first time in front of a live audience.

All sales made during the meet benefited the SGA Boosters Association and all in attendance enjoyed free gifts and hundreds of Stikii balloons that could be seen bouncing and floating around the gym prior to the awards ceremonies.

Sunrise Gymnastics Academy – you scored a Perfect 10 in our hearts!
